Job Description:

The Circuit Court for the City of Alexandria is seeking a coordinator for the Alexandria Justice Information System (AJIS) who will be responsible for providing full performance specialized information technology work by leading the development and on-going maintenance of courts technology services. The qualified candidate will maintain, transform, and enhance databases in support of a wide variety of criminal and civil case management applications to include jail management, which are used by several municipal agencies and the general public. The position ensures the overall system design provides effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy, as well as adherence to applicable laws. General supervision is provided by the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court and technical guidance and direction is provided by the Information Technology Services Department (ITS).

Minimal and Additional Requirements: To qualify for this position all candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, plus three years of experience in coordinating or supervising a data systems operation involving the use of personal computers to organize and manage large amounts of data. Three years of experience using applying data processing standards and practices used in management information systems is required. Completion of college-level courses in data processing, information system, statistics and business administration, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to be successful in the position.

Preferred Qualifications: All the above, plus: a master’s degree; five or more years of experience with a Court’s Case Management System (or Alexandria’s Justice Information System); five or more years of demonstrated experience with the methods and procedures used in a courts and criminal justice system; five or more years of demonstrated experience with a client/server tiered environment; five or more years of demonstrated experience/skill in monitoring, managing, and debugging computer and IT programs; experience with compliance requirements with federal, State or other governing bodies for annual audits and coordinating functional and technical resources (such as CJIS, HIPAA, VITA, PCI-DSS, etc.); proven ability to lead, coordinate, and work effectively with others.
